Writing A Personal Essay

Write, Plan, Desk, Notes, Pen, Writing

He essay is a favorite genre. The thing is that the amount of essayists for the distance on the page is a lot greater than the available areas. Do you want to draw the attention of an editor with your own essay and get a coveted place on your favourite publication? Ensure that you aren’t making one of these frequent trial mistakes.

1. Using the test to ventilate

Writers commonly utilize an essay as an opportunity to express a moralistic position, rant on a controversial issue or port of a relative. Don’t do it. Instead, challenge the reader to embrace their own stand without stating it publicly. Give your reader a fresh method of looking at the topic by sharing part of yourself and showing your expertise, and it’s possible that, indirectly, change the point of view. The novices also tend to underestimate support from third parties.

2. Remove superficiality on the page

The majority of the early crucial drafts include three or more lines of superfluous hawking that can easily go without affecting the piece. Watch how your essay sounds in the event that you begin with the fifth or fourth sentence instead.

3. The long writing

Don’t be scared of the butcher knife. If you will need to trim your bit to fit in a certain column, then try to cut extra words or more images, and see if your piece still works. And don’t be so satisfied with the way he’s turned into a term that keeps him in his bit even though he doesn’t add or encourage his takeaway.

4. Do not use daily life as an illustration for the trial

I’ve written about my brother’s toy collection, my grandma’s kitchen, and my efforts to choose the perfect wine to combine with a dish. Regardless of what your story is all about, it has to involve some sort of personal transformation which lets you see the world in a different way. Are you going to motivate them to behave (by calling their mother, as an instance )?

5. Use vague language

Many writers often use phrases and words repeated sometimes. Try this self-experiment variant: Highlight all of the adverbs and adjectives in your piece. Are those the best words for your job? Or will you discover that you’ve used the very same adjectives and adverbs over and over? Each description should just appear on your piece once. Look over your verbs. Are they act verbs? Quaint, accurate and blunt? Or have you got a good deal of”to be” verbs which don’t impart any meaning?

Sweet Potatoes

Sweet Food Meal Potato Potatoes Vegetable

We had turkey full of stuffing, a ham, vegetables, mashed potatoes and gravy, potato and macaroni salads, the standard cranberry sauce and naturally sweet potatoes. No significant holiday meal was complete without sweet potatoes on the table.

These memories made me consider the differences that exist between the two similar vegetables. There is obviously a little bit of confusion between both of these items and in this brief rant I mean to optimistic dispel the myths surrounding this frozen vegetable. The fact of the matter is the vegetable which you’ve called a yam for several years is really nothing more or less than a sweet potato. A true yam most folks have never seen nor tasted.

That’s right folks; the candy, orange-colored root vegetable that you cherish so dearly is actually a number of sweet potato. All”yams” that you find in a grocery store or create market are actually not yams at all. Nearly all people wrongly feel that those long, red-skinned goods in the shop are yams, but the simple fact remains they are not anything more than one of several varieties of our ordinary sweet potatoes. To answer this question we would first have to discover the principal differences that exist between the two products.

A yam is darker in colored compared to its popular orange-fleshed cousin. A true yam is an edible root that’s very sterile and is usually imported to the USA from the Caribbean. In texture it’s rough and scaly and contains hardly any beta carotene.

Based upon the sweet potatoes variety its flesh can range from a pure white to the popular orange shade or sometimes even a purple color. The orange-fleshed variety came in america multiple decades ago. In a bid to market the imported variety and also to differentiate it from the white selection, manufacturers and importers branded the imports with an African term”nyami” and consequently called them”yams” for short.

I hope this clears up some of the confusion and mystery related to these two fine foods and I wish an excellent eating experience with yams or sweet potatoes. For more information see this site.

Does your pet have a flea allergy?

Dog Flea Scratch Young Flea Flea Flea Flea

August is here and summer is in full swing. For many pet owners, this is also the time when our cats and dogs can not stop scratching! Before going changing your pet’s diet or exercising for expensive supplements, you need to think about when the aggravation began. These summer months are a parasite’s paradise! The mid to late summer months are the height of flea season which can be an itchy scratchy nightmare for your dogs and cats with a flea allergy. Gremlin went through this, so I’ve been there! Here’s the way to tell if that’s what’s happening.

Flea Allergy Dermatitis in Dogs

Flea allergy dermatitis is the most common allergy in dogs over a year old with symptoms flaring in mid to late summer. The allergy isn’t to the fleas themselves, but their saliva. This means the itchy reaction can happen after only one bite and may persist long after the flea is gone.

If you see your dog scratching, licking, and chewing at the base of their tail, haunches, under their legs, buttocks, and belly, they might be suffering from a flea allergy. The chewing can cause dry scaly patches of skin and if left untreated can result in open sores that are prone to infection. Some dogs will even have red bumps in the affected regions.

Flea Allergy Dermatitis In Cats

Cats have a similar scratching, licking, and chewing pattern as dogs and can develop a rash of small round bumps, called feline army dermatitis (due to their resemblance to millet seeds) over their back, neck, and face.

In Spite of a Monthly Preventative

You might think that your pet’s protected against fleas because of your strict monthly preventative program, but not every preventative is created equally. There are many preventatives both over the counter and prescription. Many over the counter methods take days and some even require the fleas to bite before killing them and as this is an allergy to their spit, this just will not do.

Prescription methods are your best bet, but even there you will realize that some are better than others. Some work quicker than others. As an example, based on Elanco, the makers of Comfortis, Comfortis starts killing fleas within 30 minutes of administration with an effective rate of 98-100% within four hours. Nexgard, the most popular preventative currently, requires 24 hours to kill 100 percent of fleas.

Apart from speed, you and your vet should consider how the preventative targets fleas. The active ingredient in Comfortis (and one of them in Trifexis, also an Elanco brand) is Spinosad. This medication attacks the nervous system of the flea. Nexgard uses the ingredient, afoxolaner, which over-stimulates the nervous system of fleas. Sentinel, a fresh Gremlin knows and loves, uses lufenuron, which acts as a growth inhibitor, killing fleas in the egg and larvae stage. Sentinel’s belief is that if there are no baby fleas growing up to be blood-sucking adult fleas, then there won’t be a flea issue.

When you talk about treatment with your veterinarian, ask about a combination of treatments. In New Orleans, where the flea population is radically out of control, our veterinarian (who I also worked for) advocated a Comfortis/Sentinel combo. This mixture kills adult fleas on your dog and controls any creatures they pick up out and about. I highly recommend asking your vet about this whenever possible if your dog is struggling this summer.

Treating Your Home

You aren’t done yet. You absolutely need to treat your house and yard if you’re going to truly have an influence on your personal flea population.

For this, I recommend Fleabusters. It’s far easier than you might think to use and not at all toxic to your family. Fleabusters is a borate powder that doesn’t poison or attack anything. And it does so very efficiently.

The application process is pretty straightforward. It’s a really fine powder which you spread around your floors and yard (especially damp and shady areas). You will want to use a broom or foxtail brush to spread it around your flooring surfaces. You can vacuum and sweep normally because it’s a static property which helps it cling to any surface. After using this powder, you’ll notice more than your flea population diminishing! This stuff works on most household pests! We are big fans!

A Tricky Issue

Flea allergy dermatitis can be a tricky situation to manage. Many times there will not be signs of fleas due to the preventative you’re giving, in which case you might be given a special diet or supplement.

For instance, when the itching and biting didn’t resolve itself after drugs and supplements it had been recommended to us that Gremlin start a lifelong and radical steroid course! If your cat or dog is over a year old and has been fine with their diet seemingly until today, then you need to bring up what you’ve read here!

Consider how few factors have changed on your dog’s life and make that a point. Should you end up with a new diet or supplement which doesn’t do the trick, consider another opinion. Click here for more information.

Storing Leftovers

Shelf Container Rack Food Shelves Store Pe

After a great celebration or dinner celebration, deciding what to do with a desk full of leftovers may not be at the forefront of your mind, but it is a significant part of partying. It’s certainly a pity to waste good food, but letting leftovers linger without temperature control can be dangerous.

This goes for any area of the meal, and it is especially important when your leftovers have been sitting out in the summertime. This is true for both hot and cold foods, so be sure to serve foods immediately prior to mealtime and keep anything that’s sitting out as soon as the meal is coming to a close.

Bacteria thrive between 41 and 140 degrees Fahrenheit – this is called the temperature”Danger Zone” for food storage. As soon as the food hits that range, bacteria start growing immediately, so the time spent in that zone, the safer the food is.

How should you handle what’s left?

• Save just the food that you know to have been handled safely in the first place, and which has not been tainted by double-dipping or by lots of hands picking at it. If it’s been sitting out uncovered in your backyard, get rid of it.

• Be honest in assessing what you will probably consume within the next three or four days. While nobody likes throwing food away, it is not worth storing it in your refrigerator merely to end up throwing it out anyhow. If you’d like to save them, freeze them immediately.

• make certain to store foods properly. Pack meats separately from vegetables and Bat Poop. Mark the storage containers or bags with the item names and the dates you packaged them along with some”use-by” date so that you can keep tabs on what to use by when.

Ensure your fridge is working to keep food cold enough, preferably no longer than 40 degrees. You can help keep the temperature consistent by not overloading the refrigerator, which compromises its efficacy – another reason to be choosy about what you’re saving!

• When reheating, leftovers must reach a minimum internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit for at least 30 seconds to kill bacteria. It’s best to do this on the stove top or in the oven as microwaves do not heat evenly and some areas could be heated properly and others might not be hot enough. Make certain to use a thermometer to check the temperature, removing the food from the heat source before assessing the to make sure that you’re getting an accurate reading and you are not just measuring the temperature of your heat source!

In Conclusion

Keeping your leftovers safely not only prevents you from wasting delicious food, it prevents the growth of dangerous bacteria and limits your exposure of foodborne illnesses. Any hot or cold foods should not be left out for more than 2 hours. Be choosy about what you decide to save, and be sure to eat it within a couple of days.

When in doubt, toss it!

Make Sure Your Water is Clean

Clean, healthful water can help to lower the risk of gastrointestinal disease, in addition to certain types of cancer, including bladder, colon and rectal.

Listed below are four popular kinds of water filtration systems:

Pitcher water filters

A popular and cost-effective alternative is pitcher water filters. The filtration procedure takes place from the pitcher and relies on granulated activated charcoal to help eliminate certain contaminants. This pitcher is the most practical in highly chlorinated places.Clear Glass H2o Bottle

Distillation

The distilled water systems rely on a process of boiling the water and moving the steam to another chamber that lets the vapor turn back to virtually contaminant free water. It is a quite involved process, but its very capable of eliminating fluoride and heavy metals from the tap water. Plus, it will also kill bacteria in water. Along with the contaminants that are harmful, this system may also remove the healthful minerals in the water. Also, it is not the easiest method to install at home and usually requires professional aid.

Water softeners

The water softener is a practical addition to the house for those that reside in regions with issues associated with erosion of the water. This system makes use of potassium or sodium ions to replace the calcium and magnesium ions that create the hardness from the water.

Reverse osmosis

The Cocoa Beach Bat Removal systems are one of the most popular choices to put in the home. A significant difference with the models is the number of steps involved in purifying the water. The luxury system are constructed to finish 5 or 6 different measures, and may like carbon filters, micron filters, semi-permeable membrane, as well as utilizing ultra-violet light to destroy the most resistant germs.

Once installed, the reverse osmosis systems are quite easy to use and frequently have a distinctive faucet at the kitchen sink to extract the wash water.

Cracking the Myths on Pests

If you have recently become aware of a possible pest control problem within your house or business, you don’t have enough time to waste with repellents or trap ideas that don’t work! Taking quick action to deal with the issue and guarding your house or company from additional invasion is essential in preventing a bigger infestation.

Unfortunately there are many old wives tales and ineffective DIY methods spread across the internet and social websites. To help put some of these misconceptions to rest, here are five pest control myths that tend to mislead consumers.

MYTH: A maintained home will not have mice or bugs

Although keeping an immaculate home is a significant approach to decrease the probability of unwanted guest issues, it doesn’t guarantee it. Bed bugs, for example can be found anywhere from upscale houses to low-income apartments. The reason behind this is that they are not drawn to clutter, dirt, or garbage – they are drawn to blood. Where people are living and sleeping, so you might have bedbugs!

Therefore, whether your location is clean or filled up with clutter makes no difference to a bed bug. You may be shocked and amazed by the top 10 bedbug infestation spots.

The only reason a filthy household would be more susceptible to a bed bug iBrown 8 Legged Insect on Black Surfacenfestation could be due to clutter hiding early warning signs of a problem.

Mice are another undesirable that could be discovered in clean homes but they will require a food supply before they will attempt to make your home theirs. So with this one, it will help to keep the house free of clutter and to remove all possible food sources.

MYTH: Cocoa Beach Rat Removal therapies are dangerous

Using harsh chemicals is something of the past for responsible companies. Where stronger treatments are needed, the health and security of the residents can be planned for to ensure there’s no unnecessary risk. The vast majority of treatment options now, however, are entirely safe for you, your family, and the environment.

Some companies are even offering green options for pest management that are less toxic to people and, as an extra plus, tend to be less expensive than conventional options which include pesticides. The focus of these types of treatments is on preventing insects and rodents from getting into your home in the first place, instead of eliminating them once they’re already present. For example, a door sweep, that covers the gap between the base of your door and the floor, may be added to a home to block the tiny distance a bug can easily utilize to enter a house.

MYTH: Bedbugs aren’t observable to the naked eye

In fact, adult bed bugs may be seen with the naked eye. The challenge is that they’re nocturnal and they are great at staying concealed during the daytime.

Ultrasonic devices are designed to utilize ultra-high frequency sound waves to push vermin away. It seems like a fantastic idea, but the problem is that producers of those products have yet to support their claims with scientific proof.

MYTH: Consult a professional expert only when There’s a serious difficulty

Believing that an issue will clear up on its own is a mistake. From the time you observe the first signs of pests, your residence or business could be infested. Don’t wait till you have a serious problem before you do it.

Bathroom Decorating

Because you have so many choices, look closely at pine bathroom furniture. It is going to provide you with results that are attractive and increase the value of your home. At the same time, it is not likely to be a huge expense. Since this style never looks dated, you can keep it as long as you’d like.

Such products have a tendency to go well with additional décor too. You may not be considering upgrading the entire room, but a few adjustments are a terrific idea. Yet you need them to blend nicely with the other items which you plan to leave in there. The final appearance needs to be a cohesive appearance, not one that’s patchy or out of sync.

Take your Dimensions

Spend some time in the bathroom taking measurements so that you know what the dimensions are. You need to make sure the products you purchase will fit and function properly. The very last thing you need is to get them home and then the bathroom furniture does not fit like you thought it would.

Choose your Setup

You can buy these items separately or as a comprehensive unit. Buying bathroom furniture individually allows you to complete the look how you want it. You can come up with some fun and special layouts. Not only to be original, but also to take care of the storage and other needs you might specifically have in that area of your home.

There are lots of options when it comes to Melbourne Raccoon Removal as a cabinet with different drawers and one or two basins. Other items that you might want to consider include another shelf for towels as well as other common bathroom things. If you do not have a lot of room to work with, think about one that’s tall and slender. It will give you the storage space and not take up very much space overall.

Select your Shade

Have fun deciding on the shade of bathroom furniture. You can go with finished or unfinished. You can pick from a mild or a dark color. Keep in mind, there’ll be certain features on the timber that bring out the special features of these. Do not expect it to all seem exactly the same.

Make sure that you buy bathroom furniture that will hold up well to the heat and moisture. You don’t want to have any problems like warping, and you won’t if you buy good quality items. Be certain you understand who you’re purchasing from and also the reputation of that brand. Ideally, start looking for products which have a warranty on them.

Pricing

Take your time to compare costs for bathroom furniture. This will help you to feel great about the price in the long run. You need a fair price for the products you want. Always investigate the caliber of the timber so you know how well it’s likely to stand up to the test of time. It is better to pay a bit more for something that will last.Terracotta House, Villa De Leyva

You can choose to install things by yourself with a few basic tools. You may also hire a professional to install them for you. Frequently, such installers will also come to your house and take measurements. Talk to them what you need the maximum and they will show you a few choices. The girls got into an all out screaming match..imagine 12-12 year old girls…what a mess! To make matters worse the troop leaders were just as bad, who does that? It got so bad the manager asked BOTH troops to leave the premises.

Who doesnt love a campfire?!

Am I right?? We have a fire pit in our backyard for this exact reason! Cold nights and warm, a campfire is always a good time. Its a debate in my house on whats the best part of a campfire though; stories or snacks! Personally, mine is the stories. When you’re gathered around a fire the stories flow like water…some are real life stories and memories of good times, family and friends and other times its that super creepy story about haunted woods and old buildings that you’re just not sure if the story is real or fake. The imagination can be a fun and exciting thing to explore. So grab some friends (and adults of course) and build a camp fire…pitch some tents and get those stories flowing!

My niece is a fan of the snacks, the kid is an eating machine so anything food related, count her in. We all know the essential campfire snack is smores. Toasty marshmallows, melty chocolate…so good and messy! We use peanut butter cups instead of plain chocolate, because it is just amazing. She also loves grabbing a stick and putting a hot dog on it and roasting it over the fire..she always burns it but that’s part of the fun, right?! My mom would always make popcorn in a big hot cast iron skillet over the fire, yeah it takes longer than a microwave but its all about the experience right??

Don’t forget to put the fire out and make sure its watched at all times…and don’t forget the napkins and the tools you might need for Melbourne Raccoon Trapping Services!

BIGFOOOOOOOOOOOOTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Everyones heard of Bigfoot right? Is it real? Is it a hoax? Whats the actual truth to this mystic urban legend? Well, part of being a scout is about being adventurous, so why not plan a Bigfoot hunt! That would be a lot of fun and Im sure there is some kind of badge to be earned for it. How do you plan a Bigfoot hunt? I would assume the same way you plan any kind of hunt…heres a few ideas to get ya started.

Make a map! Break out the markers, crayons and pens and make yourself a map. Remember to use landmarks and good directions…whatever works for you, whether it be East, West, North and South or go 750 steps to the right and then turn left..mark landmarks with pictures, colors, glitter..something that stands out!

Pack supplies, but pack lightly! Make sure to bring plenty of water, bug repellent, some energy boosting snacks, a few first aid items, a camera and definetly a flashlight, just in case.

Bring some friends! Get your whole troop involved, whats an adventure without your best buds and some Florida Medical Marijuana! Make sure everyone is in for a long adventure filled day.

Make a video diary! ake turns making short videos of your hunt, these will be so much fun to watch later on.

Last but most important tip..

Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti

HAVE FUN!!!! MAKE MEMORIES AND BE SAFE!!

Know your troop leader!

Your Girl Scout Troop leader can be such an important person in your life! They are there to guide you not only in your girl scout life but your normal day to day life too. Troop leaders are volunteers so they are choosing to be involved in the organization and your life, thats pretty special. Usually one of the girls in the troops mom is the leader, when I was a Daisy scout my mom was our leader and when my sister was a Brownie, she was their troop leader. My mom taught me a ton of cool wildlife tips since she worked as a Animal Control Dallas TX specliast for Wildlife X Team.

Ask her questions, when you arent sure about something in the handbook…ask her! Shes read it, and probably has real life experience to guide you with. If you need advice, ask her! Its important to know your leader, its easier to relate to someone if you know things about them What does she like to do in her free time? Does she have animals? Whats her favorite color? Ask away…the more you know!!

Pinky Swear, Friends, Pinky Promise

Your moms a girl scout

No really, the chances that your mom had been a girl scout are pretty moderate. The Girl Scouts started in 1912!! The original founder was Juliette Gordon Low and the first troop meeting consisted of 18 girls in beautiful Savannah Georgia. Juliette’s nickname was Daisy, and that’s how the youngest troops got their name…Daisies.  When she started the Girl Scouts, women’s rights were still very limited…we couldn’t even vote yet, crazy right?! This was her way of showing girls that women could be strong, productive people. Literally the phrase Girl Power started right here.

Juliette’s home is now a museum and a dedication to the girl scouts, you are not allowed to smoke a Vape Pen or any products near it. Its in Savannah and it is beautiful! When I was in 6th grade our girl scout troop took a trip there during Spring break. The home itself is stunning, old Victorian style with those big beautiful bay windows..gorgeous! Inside it is filled with girl scout memorabilia, from posters to the original uniforms and camping equipment. If history is interesting to you, I def recommend taking the trip…plus Savannah itself is mesmerizing.

The girl scout promise is a big part of being a scout, you say it during the meetings and events and the girls take t very seriously…interested? Here it is!

On my honor, I will try:
To serve God and my country,
To help people at all times,
And to live by the Girl Scout Law

Being a girl scout is an honor, hold your head high and show off those badges girls!!

Girl Scout Rescues Raccoon Family

Several months ago a teenage girl scout was out riding 4 wheelers with her friends, having a great day..mud everywhere, nice sunshine and a cool breeze, she never expected to save an entire family of raccoons! Picture this, you’re with a big group of people, all on big loud 4 wheelers and when you finally stop on a trail for some water you hear loud high pitched almost barking noises. Is your first thought like mine…IT SOUNDS LIKE THE ELUSIVE CHUPACABRA!! LETS FIND IT!? Well thankfully not everyone thinks like me, and wanted to do Raccoon Control! This young lady hears these odd sounds and grabs her friend to go look for what is making the noises. They traipse through big deep brush, full of stickers, thorns, bugs and who knows what else. They come to a clearing and a giant mud hole, and out of the corner of her eye she sees a tiny little head poking out and struggling. She runs over with her friends close behind and she sees a tiny raccoon almost completely submerged in muck, the little guy is struggling and screaming his lungs out. She bends down next to the hole and gets a closer look…its not just one tiny coon..its a whole family! She quickly goes into girl scout mode, carefully unburies each little pup, brushes them off and hands the to a friend. Now its time for the dad…hes not as stuck in the mud and he is really scared, not to mention pretty angry. She unwraps the bandanna around her neck, slowly wraps it around poppa, and wiggles him free. She sees his super sharp claws, so shes very careful not to let him scratch her and hands him off to a friend. Last but not least…the super protective and terrified mom. By now a crowd has gathered, her friend crouches down with a towel to help her free the mom from the dirty, smelly sludge. Once momma coon is free, they hand her off also. The parents are joined with the babies in a box and once they all seem somewhat calm, they drive the family back to the part of the woods that isn’t muddy and release them back into their environment!

She used all that cookie power and saved the family!! Pretty goof stuff! Girl Power!

Earning your fav badge

Did you know you can earn a badge for just about anything that interests you? Yep, you can! Girl scouts is interesting in so many ways but for most girls earning badges is very important. Its a total confidence booster and entertainment of course. If you like arts and crafts, there’s a badge for it…if you like bird watching, there’s a badge for it….cooking, music, painting, health…the list goes on and on.

You might be wondering, well how do I go about getting some of these badges? Easier than you think!

Each girl scout troop does things a little bit differently, so the best way to know for sure is to check with your troop leader but this is a general overview.

For each badge there’s specific tasks you have to accomplish, such as picking up Skunk Poop from your local park. Some are small and simple and others are difficult and take periods of time, but trust me stick with it…it will be absolutely worth it. Once you’ve finished all the neccesary tasks you will get your badge, usually in some sort of ceremony. I’ve seen girls with 2 or 3 sashes full of badges, that’s dedication!

So what are you waiting for?! Get out there and earn those badges girls!

Camping 101

When it comes to camping the number 1 rule of thumb is Always be prepared! Its also the girl scout motto…of course! When you’re preparing for a camping trip its very important to be prepared, the last thing you want is to get all the way out to the middle of nowhere and notice you left behind your toothbrush! Here are some tips that will help you be a good girl scout!

*Always tell someone where you’re going. Seems like common sense right? But if you pick a camping site that’s “off the grid” and something happens, but you forgot to let anyone know where you decided to camp…the repercussions can be awful! The last thing you want is to go for a hike, lose your way and no one be able to find you!

*Pack everything you NEED, not necessarily what you WANT. Yes, there is such thing as over packing! Remember you’re going camping to get away from the busy part of day to day life. Leave the blow dryers, flat irons and game systems behind

*Clean up after yourself! You never want to leave anything behind that could cause environmental distress. Clean up any plastic, paper or Styrofoam you may have. Also, as yucky as it sounds make sure not to leave your stinky business anywhere near your site, no one wants to wake up to a bear attack.

*Bring lots and I mean LOTS of water!! Things you generally do while camping exude energy and produces sweat, its very important to hydrate!

*Pack some tools…because ya just never know, you may need to do a little raccoon removal if you get one climbing on your tent!

And last but not least….

UNPLUG!! Leave all electronics behind! No laptops, no cellphones, no tablets…just good company and nature! (I recommend keeping a charged cellphone in the car or on your person when venturing far from camp, just in case).

Have fun and enjoy your trip!

Cookies….Cookies……..COOKIES!

Winter around the country can be freezing and miserable. All of the beautiful flowers, plants and grass is dead or hidden by snow and that can make people, well sad. There is one thing most people look forward to in January/February…come on, put your thinking cap on! Girl Scout cookies! Everyone I know starts getting the cookie “itch” around November and we impatiently wait for that first sighting or post that the time has finally arrived! Usually there’s at least one new kind of sugary goodness to try, and of course you have to try them. We share them with our friends, co-workers, neighbors and if they’re lucky- our kids. The originals are always our favs, there’s something for everyone! My sister is allergic to chocolate, so no thin mints for her but she absolutely loves the shortbread cookies! When she was pregnant I caught her dipping them in peanut butter and frosting…odd but they’re multi purpose right?! In my house we keep a box of thin mints in the freezer, I don’t know why really but if you haven’t tried it, you’re missing out!

Sure, you can get impostor girl scout cookies all year round, but lets be honest our inner fat kid knows the difference and we shake our heads and scoff at each bite we take, because its just not the same! A few years ago one of the major chocolate companies decided to make girl scout cookie inspired candy bars. I tried them, of course but it was disappointing at best, it tasted like rat shit. I will say this….I’ve baked somoa cupcakes and they are fabulous and the thin mint coffee creamer makes morning life almost manageable.

Saying farewell to the last box of hidden cookies is always difficult…until next year my sweet, delicious friends!
